Attending a standup paddle boarding event is one of the best ways to enjoy the sport. It’s the perfect place to be introduced to the sport as a spectator, it’s a great place to learn and try new products, and it’s also a great way to connect with those who enjoy the sport just as much as you do. October 2019 Paddle Boarding Events
Lake Jocassee Paddle Splash
The unspoiled mountain waters of South Carolina’s premier inland paddling destination are home to the Lake Jocassee Paddle Splash, offering races for kayaks, surfskis, canoes, paddleboards, and other self-powered craft. Beginners and advanced paddlers are welcome, and are grouped by age and the speed of the craft to keep the racing fair. Choose between long (six mile) and short (three mile) loop courses. Kayak and SUP rentals are available on site at the Eclectic Sun Paddlesports concession, or bring your favorite ride.
Corsica Paddle Trophy
Whether you know the Corsican coastline or want to discover it, the Corsica Paddle Trophy is for you. Indeed, beyond the adventure in Paddle, we chose incredible landscapes so that the pleasure of the effort is also that of the eyes. As Corsicans like to say, “there is no need to travel very far to meet paradise”. So enjoy the sweetness of October for 4 days of Paradise!
Lanakila Iki Ocean Challenge
Come paddle the gorgeous waters of the Atlantic Ocean in the Lanakila Iki Ocean Challenge! Men’s and Women’s teams will race 9 miles – with one buoy turn – past Fort Lauderdale’s boardwalk and sandy beachfront. Mixed (Co-ed) teams will race 6 miles. Last year several teams from around Florida plus a team from the great state of Texas enjoyed a roller-coaster ride of a paddle on the water followed by a sumptuous, pre-arranged feast at a nearby restaurant. This year’s race is working on being even bigger and better!
Battle of the Bay
Warm weather and the perfect mixture of protected and exposed race courses make the 9th Annual Battle of The Bay the perfect race for first time racers and elite athletes alike. Once again this year the event will be supporting Ocean of Hope. The Battle of the Bay is an official APP/WPA World SUP Tour qualifying event where many of the world’s top male and female competitors in standup paddleboard racing will be challenging their skills and testing their mettle.
Red Bull Heavy Water
Now in its 4th year, the San Francisco event on the 2019 APP World Tour Schedule will be a one day event featuring one extreme race for Pros only when conditions are suitable within a 2 week holding period. A highlight on the pro standup paddleboard circuit, is headed back to San Francisco after weather condition requirements were not met in 2018. With an event window from October 15th – November 7th, athletes will compete on a 12km (7.5 miles) course, paddling from Aquatic Park, under the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, and finishing at Ocean Beach.
ICF SUP World Championships
The International Canoe Federation is hosting its first SUP World Championships in Qingdao, China. Top athletes from around the globe will partake in this first-time event in hopes of earning a world championship title.
Chattajack is a paddleboard/kayak race unlike any other. It is one that celebrates the effort a paddle athlete makes in the pursuit of distance endurance. Fueled with passion on the water, these individuals love to dig, testing their personal limits while completing this unique gorge course.
Sand & Sea Festival
The Sand and Sea Festival is a weekend full of fun located in Huskisson, Australia. With 4 different races/events to choose from all paddlers no matter the skill level will find something fun to take part in. Included in the festival will be a beginner’s race where boards are provided, a downwind race, a fun race and even a sprint race.
Join WWF’s Panda Paddle, a one-of-a-kind standup paddle board event, to make a huge difference for our planet. You’ll raise money to protect the oceans, rivers, animals, and wild places you love. Then, you’ll join together with nature lovers just like you at the nation’s premier standup paddle boarding festival, to celebrate all that you’ve done for the planet.
