Chucktown Showdown Moves Venues Ahead of 7th Annual Event

FOLLY BEACH, South Carolina – The 7th Annual Chucktown Showdown presented by Charleston County Parks and Rec is moving locations! On September 28th, 2019 racers will be heading to the “Edge of America” on Folly Beach, SC to experience the new race courses and venue. The race benefits a local chapter of the Surfers Healing non-profit, which is an organization who’s mission is to, “enrich the lives of people living with autism by exposing them to the unique experience of surfing”.

Races are open to SUPs, Prones, Surfskis, OCs and Ocean Kayaks with $2,500 in cash prizes for select divisions. The following course options are available and will feature beach starts and finishes and include:

  • Folly Beach Ocean Course (~9 m)
  • Folly Beach Pier Course (~4m)
  • Kids Course (1m)

This event is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend and support the paddle community of Charleston! Following the race, the festivities continue back at the Pelican Pavilion to browse vendors, grab some lunch and toast with friends new and old in the Beer Garden. Don’t miss the chance to win some cool prizes in the raffle and celebrate the paddle victories during the awards ceremony!
