Standup for the Cure Announces 3rd Annual Seattle Event

Seattle WA, August 14, 2019 – As Standup for the Cure 501c3 writes fundraising checks to Susan G. Komen Orange County, and Hackley Community Care in Michigan they are preparing to bring their unique event to the Pacific Northwest for the 3rd year. After eight successful years, Standup for the Cure announces Standup for the Cure Seattle, presented by KOMO 4 News, to benefit Susan G. Komen Puget Sound. The team, led by Executive Director Dan Van Dyck, will be hosting the event at Lake Sammamish State Park on August 24, 2019 as the third location in a series of nationwide events aimed at expanding Standup for the Cure’s mission to raise money and awareness for early breast cancer detection, research, treatment and education.
“Standup for the Cure’s focus is to introduce non-paddlers to the healthy lifestyle of standup paddling, while building a supportive community bound by the desire to rid the world of breast cancer,” stated Executive Director Dan Van Dyck.
The Standup for the Cure event features instruction from top paddleboard experts as well as breast cancer risk counseling, live music with The Wet City Rockers and a health and fitness expo. Attendees will also enjoy a great festival with catered lunch by Trapper’s Sushi. KOMO 4 News, KOMO Newsradio, STAR 101.5 and 570 KVI, Standup for the Cure’s media sponsors, lead the visionary family of partners, which includes Premera Blue Cross and Deloitte Digital (Gold Sponsors), Auto Nation, Cascade Mountain Tech (Silver Sponsors), Georgetown Brewery, Maui Jim, Nine Hats Wine and Ivar’s Restaurant (Supporting Sponsors).

- Standup Paddleboard Clinic for beginners and SUP Yoga with Lindsay Lambert
- Events: Kid’s race, 5K expert and fun “Sea of Pink” paddle
- Other things to do: Industry Health and Fitness Expo with free risk counseling for Breast Cancer, Live Music, Catered Lunch and Happy Hour with Nine Hats Wine and Georgetown Brewery, SUP lessons and Demos as well as a Sweepstakes Drawing and Silent Auction

Founded in 2011, Standup for the Cure is fully supported by generous donations from their presenting and title partners and a host of Vendors and Volunteers who take part each year. Standup for the Cure has now raised over $1,300,000 for local beneficiaries including their most recent donation of $70,000 to the Hackley Community Care and the Van Andel Institute in Muskegon from the recent SUFTC Muskegon event.
