La Ventana Classic Offering Adventurous Downwind Races

BAJA SUR, Mexico – Paddlers! This winter, escape to warm weather, daily downwind races and good times. Enjoy the La Ventana Classic, an adventurous and unique windsport paddle sport event. Set for January 16-20, 2019 in Baja Sur, Mexico, at a stunning event site (Hot Springs) situated between the azure beauty of the Sea of Cortez and rustic foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna mountain range.
SUP racers and prone paddlers can compete in multiple “downwind” course races including the challenging 11-mile channel crossing from Cervalo Island to La Ventana and epic Las Cruces Downwinder from the famed Las Cruces Hotel Resort.
New this year will be a SUP Foil competition! Foil racers can complete in all downwind races for cash prizes. All paddlers to be treated with awesome race support provided by LVC (transport of boards to & from start/finish lines. Also available – race board transport from Carlsbad, CA to/from La Ventana, MEX). Included in this amazing event are kite foil, kiteboarding and windsurfing competitions, as well as, freestyle and big air contests. There is also a daily mountain bike race!

Mission number one combines having lots of fun and supporting a great cause. The LVC is a vital fundraiser for the schools of La Ventana/El Sargento villages. The event has raised over $130,000 since it’s inception, assisting the local community with much needed education program funds! Come enjoy the Kite Expo, crazy fun beach parties, rocking bands, authentic Mexican food, colorful dance presentations by local schools and the most excellent awards party ever.
